Beaver Falls is a spectacular 60 ft. waterfall dropping along Beaver Creek, near Trail BC. Later in the summer, it is a popular hangout and swimming hole. In the spring, it is a dramatic plunge through a steep canyon.
The trail easily follows the railroad tracks for about a mile to a trestle over Beaver Creek. This is where the creek plunges 60 ft. to the bottom of the canyon. A spur trail leads down to a viewpoint, and continues to the base of the falls. It is quite difficult to get a good view of the waterfall. I had to scramble down to a precarious rock to get a view for the photos I took (above). Most people will not want to do this, as it was slightly dangerous. The scramble down to the bottom of the canyon also is very steep and may be slippery and dangerous. And if you are here in the spring, there is no view at all of the waterfall from the bottom. The creek is running too fast to be able to get up to the base of the falls. Later in the summer, it is quite easy to make your way up to the base.
In the winter it is possible to snowshoe along the railroad tracks to the waterfall. However, it is much more treacherous in the winter at the waterfall viewpoint, and it is not easy to get a very good view of the falls. However, it is a very neat experience being here in the winter, and the waterfall is gorgeous with snow and ice on it.
