Middle McCloud Falls is the best of the waterfalls along the McCloud River. It is 46 ft. tall and about 100 ft. wide. It is also a popular place for swimming in the pools below the falls, though not nearly as popular as the Lower Falls.
The trail to Middle McCloud Falls begins at the Lower Falls, and follows the river through Fowler campground to the base of the falls. It is a short and very easy 20 minute hike from Lower Falls. It is a perfect hike for children, and is very scenic. You may see a lot of deer along the trail, particularly as you walk through the campground. From the base of Middle Falls, the trail continues up a few switchbacks to the top of the falls to a viewpoint, where you can look down upon the waterfall. It is another 10 minutes from the base to the top. You can also drive to the viewpoint if you don't have time to take this beautiful hike along the river.
